Ottawa – 0
Western – 33
The unbeaten Western Mustangs defeated the Ottawa Gee-Gees 33-0 to lock up top spot in the Ontario Universities Athletics football standings.
Western (7-0) entered play in the No. 1 spot in the U Sports national rankings. The reigning Vanier Cup champions ended a five-game winning streak for the hometown Gee-Gees (5-2).
Western’s defence completely shutdown the Gee-Gees in the win. While the Ottawa Gee Gees Defence looked porous giving up over 250 yards rushing. Ottawa U travel next week to Kingston to take on the Queens Golden Gals. The Gee-Gees are still in good shape to receive the second bye and can do so without any help if they beat the Queen’s Golden Gaels in Kingston next Saturday.
